Middlesex University is a public research university located in Hendon, North London. Originally rooted in the polytechnic tradition, it became a full university in 1992 and is recognised for its diverse, internationally oriented student body and strong industry connections. The university is a recognised provider with a commitment to widening participation and inclusive admissions.
Middlesex takes a personalised approach to admissions. Offers are based on prior academic achievement, predicted grades, personal circumstances (such as barriers to learning), and where applicable, portfolio or interview performance.
Typical undergraduate entry levels:
• 128 UCAS points: ABB at A level, or equivalent (e.g. Distinction at T Level, or Access to HE with 30 Distinctions at Level 3)
• 120 UCAS points: BBB at A level
• 112 UCAS points: BBC at A level
• 96 UCAS points: CCC at A level
The university also accepts BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diplomas, T Levels, and the Access to Higher Education Diploma. Mixed qualifications are considered based on UCAS tariff points.
Where disruption to learning is identified, Middlesex will aim to be flexible and consider additional context at the results stage.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available for applicants who can demonstrate relevant experience or prior study at higher education level.
For students whose first language is not English, Middlesex requires evidence of English language proficiency. There are several ways to meet this requirement:
A satisfactory score in an approved English language test (see the university's approved test list)
Successful completion of a full Bachelor's or Master's degree taught and assessed in English at an approved university, supported by a NARIC certificate
Nationals of majority English-speaking countries who can demonstrate full English competence
Completion of a Middlesex-validated Pre-Sessional Academic English language course
Many English language tests have an expiry date of two years from the exam date, and they must be valid at the point of entry.
Middlesex also offers a free in-house English language test for applicants who have not yet taken a recognised test.
Majority English-speaking countries (as defined by Middlesex) include Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the USA, and others. The full list is available on the university website.
Some programmes with professional registration requirements may set higher English language standards than the university minimum.
