Course Description

The Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work is an academic and professional qualification designed for highly motivated graduates or career changers seeking an accelerated route into the profession. This 14-month full-time programme integrates research with practice, preparing students to work effectively in statutory, private, and voluntary social work settings. Students will explore psychosocial perspectives, sociology, psychology, and human development, with a strong focus on relationship-based and systemic practice. The curriculum is mapped against Social Work England Professional Standards, the Professional Capabilities Framework, and Knowledge and Skills Statements. A key feature of the course is the extensive hands-on experience, including a 100-day final placement where students undertake statutory interventions. Teaching is delivered through intensive blocks, workshops, and e-learning, supported by industry links and co-delivery with practising social workers and service users. The institution reserves the right to adjust course delivery in response to changing circumstances, ensuring academic standards remain a priority throughout this immersive educational experience.
