Course Description

This employment-based postgraduate programme is designed for individuals seeking to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while working within a school setting. The institution partners with Lead Partner schools to deliver training through two distinct routes: the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship and the Lead Partner Salaried route. The curriculum is fully aligned with the ITT Core Content Framework and the Teachers’ Standards, ensuring trainees develop essential skills in behaviour management, pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and professional behaviours. The course is delivered part-time over one year, integrating theoretical study with practical school-based experience. Trainees benefit from university-led training sessions taught by phase and subject experts, alongside dedicated mentor support within their school. Upon successful completion of all three programme modules, trainees are awarded the PG Cert Teaching and QTS, which allows them to teach in any state school in England. This programme is ideal for those who wish to combine professional employment with high-quality teacher training, providing a reflective learning journey with the added benefit of academic credits that can be applied towards a future Master’s degree.

Tuition Fee Details

The Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship fee is £9,000, paid from the employers’ apprenticeship levy. Lead Partner Salaried students are non-fee-paying, with training costs arranged through the partnership agreement between the Lead Partner organisation and Middlesex University. Tuition fees may be subject to change by Middlesex University London. Applicants should check the institution website for the latest fee information.
