Course Description

The Mental Health and Addiction Studies MSc (Distance Education) is designed for professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in substance use and mental health. Delivered entirely online, this programme offers the flexibility to study at your own pace while balancing professional and personal commitments. Please note that this course does not lead to registration as a mental health nurse or other clinical practitioner. Tuition Fee Details

The fee is £69 per taught credit for UK students and £126 per taught credit for international students. Part-time dissertation fees are £33 for UK students and £61 for international students. The institution reserves the right to increase postgraduate tuition fees in line with changes to legislation, regulation and any government guidance or decisions. Tuition fees for part-time study are subject to annual review and the institution reserves the right to increase the fees each academic year by no more than the level of inflation.

Academic Requirements


UK qualifications

Honours degree (2:2 or above) in any discipline.

Exceptionally, students without a degree but with evidence of ability to study at Masters level may be considered.

Other qualifications

A 2:2 or above, or equivalent in mental health/addictions or a related subject area.

Two years experience in the mental health or substance use field if holding a professional qualification in nursing, social work or an allied discipline.

Non-mental health professionals: An honours degree (2:2 or above) in any discipline and three years experience in the mental health or problematic substance use field.
