Course Description

The PGCE History with Humanities (QTS) at Middlesex University London is designed for graduates passionate about history who wish to develop the expertise to teach at the secondary level. This one-year full-time programme provides Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and equips students with the pedagogical skills to teach history alongside other humanities subjects such as geography, citizenship, or religious education. The curriculum is structured to support trainees from novice to expert, integrating on-campus training at the Hendon campus with 120 days of school-based training in partnership schools. Students will engage with research-informed practice, curriculum planning, and inclusive teaching strategies. Tuition Fee Details

For the 2026/27 academic year, the tuition fee for UK full-time students is £9,790. The university reserves the right to increase postgraduate tuition fees in line with changes to legislation, regulation and any government guidance or decisions. Tuition fees for part-time UK study are subject to annual review and the institution reserves the right to increase the fees each academic year by no more than the level of inflation. A 2:2 or above with at least 50% history content supported by a strong A Level (or equivalent) in relevant subjects.

It is recommended that you have obtained, or have set up to obtain, recent and relevant experience within state secondary school settings in England. Entry onto this course requires an interview.
