Course Description

The Social Work (Top up) MA is specifically designed for registered social workers who already hold a PGDip in Social Work and are seeking to achieve a master's level qualification. This programme is ideal for professionals committed to social inclusion who wish to develop their leadership skills, empathy, and ability to manage complex situations. The course focuses on integrating practice with research, enabling students to develop critical thinking and evidence-based practice skills. Delivered on a part-time basis over 7 months, the programme is fully online, featuring five one-day workshops held monthly. Students will undertake a small-scale research project, supported by individual supervision from an academic adviser. The institution provides a supportive learning environment, including access to 24-hour library services, free electronic textbooks, and specialist software. By successfully completing this module, students upgrade their existing PGDip to an MA, enhancing their professional profile for advanced roles in social work, academia, or further doctoral study. The institution reserves the right to adjust services in line with changing circumstances to maintain academic standards.
