Course Description

The Environmental Health (Apprenticeship) BSc (Honours) is a professional programme designed for individuals wishing to enter the environmental health profession. This course is the only accredited environmental health degree in southeast England and prepares students for a career as an Environmental Health Practitioner in the public or private UK sector. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to assess and apply effective solutions to improve environmental and public health, covering topics such as food safety, housing, pollution, and occupational health and safety. The programme is delivered over 4 years full-time through a work-integrated blended learning approach, combining on-campus study with workplace experience. Students will benefit from specialist facilities, including food inspection and microbiology laboratories. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to complete the CIEH Chartered Practitioner Programme. This course is ideal for those currently employed in a relevant role who wish to develop their professional expertise while earning a degree and an apprenticeship certificate.

Tuition Fee Details

There is no cost to do a higher or degree apprenticeship for the apprentice. The employer and the government are required to pay the tuition fees, meaning the apprentice will not need a tuition fee loan. Tuition fees may be subject to change by Middlesex University London. UK qualifications

Most candidates will have at least one A level in a science or technology subject (Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Food Science or similar). Relevant or prior experiential learning may be considered.

Applicants are required to be employed in a role that will enable them to engage in work activities that are relevant to developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to operate as a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner. Evidence of the ability to successfully engage with reflective work-based learning based on pre-entry assessment.
