Course Description

The Primary Education (QTS) Degree Apprenticeship BA is an ideal pathway for aspiring primary school teachers, particularly those currently working as Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants. This Level 6 apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to earn a salary while studying towards a degree and achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The programme is designed to be completed in four years, though there is scope for Recognising Prior Learning which may reduce the duration to three years. Apprentices will combine on-campus study and online learning with practical, school-based experience. Throughout the course, students will develop essential knowledge in core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science, alongside foundation subjects, while gaining the professional skills required to manage a classroom effectively. With a focus on inclusive practice, safeguarding, and creative pedagogy, this course prepares apprentices to support children aged 5 to 11 in diverse educational settings. A-level: BB-BBC

BTEC: MMP-DMM

Access requirements: Overall pass including 45 credits at level 3 (all at Merit or higher)

Must have secured an apprenticeship position with a primary school employer. Must have been subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure check. Must be living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to starting and have the right to work in the UK full time.
