Course Description

This Pharmaceutical Science MSci is a comprehensive four-year programme designed to equip students with the expertise required to understand how modern medicines are developed, manufactured, and deployed. By combining bachelor’s and master’s levels of study, the course provides a deep dive into the methods used to create safe and effective drugs that target specific areas of the body with minimal side effects. Students will explore the regulatory frameworks governing the pharmaceutical industry, preparing them for professional roles in biotech, healthcare, and consumer industries. The curriculum integrates biology and chemistry, allowing students to specialise in areas such as neuropharmacology, advanced bioanalytical science, and inorganic chemistry. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project under the guidance of active researchers in drug delivery systems. Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical workshops, supported by an online learning environment. This course is accredited by The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (APS), and students receive free membership.
