Course Description

This Counselling and Psychotherapy MSc is designed for individuals seeking the academic and practical training required to practise as a professional counsellor. The course offers an integrative approach, drawing on person-centred, cognitive-behavioural, and psychodynamic frameworks to prepare students for diverse roles in the counselling profession. Students will benefit from experiential learning, collaborative group projects, and a strong focus on ethical, non-discriminatory practice. The programme is studied on a full-time basis over two years, with on-campus attendance required one day per week. A key feature of the course is the requirement to complete 100 supervised client contact hours, supported by a placement coordinator who assists students in securing work placements. By the end of the programme, graduates will have developed the advanced knowledge, reflective skills, and professional confidence necessary to support clients across public, voluntary, and private sectors. This course provides a clear pathway towards individual membership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
