Course Description

This research-led Textile Design MA is designed for graduates from textile design and related disciplines, or those seeking to collaborate with professionals in the field. The course is grounded in the understanding that design is a key driver for change in society and the environment. You will challenge conventional ideas of what textiles are, designing products that have not yet been conceptualised. The curriculum encourages a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, reflecting the requirements for success in the modern design sector. You will engage in both evidence-led processes and speculative enquiry, building a comprehensive knowledge of your discipline. The course is available on a full-time basis (1 year) or part-time (2 years). By combining experimentation and radical thinking with effective research, you will learn to imbue your work with meaning, communicate effectively, and engage emotions. This programme is part of the School of Art, Architecture and Design, a community committed to contemporary design and its global and local contexts.
