Course Description

The MSc in Cyber Security is a specialist master’s degree designed for graduates who want to gain knowledge and skills in advanced topics in data and network security to combat 21st-century cyber threats. The programme focuses on developing your practical and hands-on skills to pursue a career in the growing field of cyber security. Taught in our purpose-built laboratory, the curriculum covers computer systems and network security, cyberattacks and defence, intrusion detection and prevention, data security and network monitoring. These components are built on a strong foundation of knowledge in computer networks, both wired and wireless, using industry-standard systems. As part of your master’s degree, you will undertake an individual project that allows you to carry out substantive work on a topic of your interest, either at the University or, where possible, within a company. The course leverages strong industry links in its learning, teaching and professional development, incorporating real-world learning through industry case studies, guest lecturer involvement and supported industry projects

Tuition Fee Details

For UK home students, tuition fee is £12,350 per year. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may be subject to change by the institution in line with government regulations and guidance.

UK qualifications

Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree from an accepted STEM discipline (preferably with a focus on Computing) that is considered to be at least comparable to a UK second-class honours degree from a recognised institution.

IT or IT with Business Studies

Candidates with a degree in accepted STEM discipline but comparable to a UK second-class ordinary degree may also considered with two years of relevant experience.

Other qualifications

Other Required Qualifications/Experience:

Candidates who have other academic, vocational, or professional qualification and candidates who have at least two years of relevant industrial experience may also be considered for admission.
