Course Description

Study Sociology in one of the world's most culturally diverse and socially complex cities. This degree introduces you to critical ideas on globalisation, social inequality, identity, and ethnicity. Designed for those aspiring to careers in social and public policy, the private sector, or voluntary organisations, the course emphasises the applied and practical nature of sociological research. You will develop a systematic understanding of key sociological concepts and learn to devise arguments, solve problems, and communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences. The curriculum explores the 'sociological imagination' through modules on global inequalities, gender, housing policy, and more. Students have the opportunity to undertake work placements, including the 'Empowering London' module, which provides hands-on experience in community settings. Whether studying full-time over three years or part-time, you will gain the transferable skills necessary to address the most challenging social issues facing society today. The institution is committed to continuous improvement, ensuring the course remains relevant to the needs of the sector and your future career.
