Course Description

This four-year degree is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in pharmaceutical science but do not currently meet the entry requirements for a standard three-year undergraduate programme. The course includes an intensive foundation year (Year 0) that focuses on the essential biology and chemistry needed to understand drug design, molecular structures, and chemical reactions. This preparatory year builds the academic confidence and competencies required for success in the subsequent three years of study. Students benefit from access to the institution's £30 million Science Centre, which features one of Europe's most advanced teaching laboratories. Throughout the programme, students are supported by expert tutors and gain practical experience in laboratory techniques. Upon completion, graduates receive the same degree title and award as those on the traditional three-year route. This course is accredited by The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and students receive free membership, providing a strong foundation for a professional career in the pharmaceutical industry.
