Course Description

This four-year degree course is designed for students who are interested in studying economics at an undergraduate level but may not meet the traditional entry requirements for a standard degree. The programme begins with an intensive foundation year (Year 0), which provides a supportive environment to build academic confidence, strengthen communication skills, and explore social science themes before progressing to degree-level study. Following the foundation year, students join the same curriculum as the standard three-year BSc (Hons) Economics course. The curriculum covers essential topics such as economic growth, financial markets, econometrics, and sustainability. Taught by experts with industry experience, the course emphasises practical skills, including data analysis and the use of industry-standard tools like Bloomberg. Students have the opportunity to undertake work placements and study abroad, ensuring they are well-prepared for professional careers in finance, consultancy, research, or government upon graduation.
