Course Description

This joint BSc honours degree in Criminology and Psychology is designed for students fascinated by the relationship between crime and social issues, such as poverty, ill-health, and discrimination, alongside the workings of the human mind. The course provides a solid grounding in developmental, social, and cognitive psychology, while introducing students to criminological theory, the criminal justice system, and the research skills required to measure and interpret crime. Taught by expert staff and practitioners from the criminal justice sector, the programme allows students to critically evaluate the causes and effects of crime and deviant behaviour. Students can tailor their studies through optional modules in their second and third years, covering topics such as terrorism, victimology, serial offenders, and forensic psychology. The course is available on a full-time basis (3 years) or part-time basis (4 years). It is an ideal choice for those looking to develop expertise in both disciplines and pursue a career in the criminal justice sector or related fields.
