Course Description

This Chemistry degree is designed for students who are passionate about the molecular world and wish to pursue a career in high-technology, science-based industries. The course provides intensive training in the fundamentals of physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry, ensuring students gain the core laboratory, IT, and analytical skills required for professional success. Students benefit from learning in a state-of-the-art £30 million Science Centre, equipped with over 280 cutting-edge workstations that mirror industry environments. The curriculum is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, offering partial exemption from Chartered Chemist status requirements. Throughout the programme, students have the opportunity to specialise in areas such as forensic chemistry or bioanalytical science and can undertake a year-long research project in their final year. Flexible study options are available, with the course offered on a full-time basis over three years or part-time over four years. Additionally, students may choose to enhance their employability by undertaking an optional work placement, gaining valuable hands-on experience in professional settings.
