Course Description

This four-year Biomedical Science degree with an integrated foundation year is designed for students who may not meet the traditional entry requirements for a standard undergraduate course. The foundation year (Year 0) provides a vital grounding in key scientific disciplines, including biology and chemistry, ensuring students are fully prepared for the subsequent three years of study. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students progress onto the full degree, which is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). The course focuses on the molecules, structures, and systems that underpin human health and disease, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills. Students benefit from learning in the institution's £30 million Science Centre, one of the largest teaching laboratories in Europe. This programme is ideal for those looking to build confidence and academic capability before specialising in biomedical science, with the flexibility to explore related human science areas if interests evolve.
