Course Description

This four-year degree is designed for aspiring journalists and digital media professionals who do not meet the standard entry requirements for a three-year undergraduate course. By including an intensive foundation year (Year 0), the programme helps students build essential academic skills in reading, writing, critical analysis, and research before progressing to the full degree. Students share this foundation year with peers from other creative disciplines, fostering a collaborative and diverse learning environment. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students join the standard three-year course, graduating with the same award and title as their peers. The curriculum balances contemporary journalistic practice with theoretical study, ensuring graduates are equipped to tell compelling stories across multiple platforms. With support from tutors and access to specialist university services, students develop a strong portfolio and gain practical experience through workshops and real-world projects. This course is available on a full-time or part-time basis, providing a flexible route into a fast-paced and rewarding industry.
